About the position

The position is responsible for managing engineering and plant projects, optimizing manufacturing processes to improve efficiency and productivity, and supporting engineering administration and business process improvement across all D&W Fine Pack facilities. This role involves collaboration with various departments to enhance manufacturing and new product development.

Responsibilities

  • Supports the development programs and/or methods to optimize capability and reduce cycle time, improve manufacturing efficiency, and overall productivity.
  • Troubleshoots complex processes or equipment issues, providing technical leadership and training to resolve those issues.
  • Leads the identification and resolution of equipment related process problems.
  • Drives and supports cross-functional continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Tracks and communicates project progress, providing regular updates on development and status.
  • Collaborates effectively in a cross-functional environment working closely with team members from various departments.
  • Supports all phases of engineering projects including equipment, facilities, manufacturing processes, continuous improvement, quality, etc.
  • Manages plant equipment installations, relocations, enhancements, and improvements across all D&W facilities.
  • Supports the development and implementation of engineering administration systems and processes.
  • Supports procedure development, control, and implementation within the department.
  • Provides specific training to production teams based on process needs.
  • Assists with IT/MIS projects related to the department.
  • Assists in generation and implementation of consistent product design methodology and standards.
  • Supports budget creation and management.
  • Supports all new and existing equipment projects including project scope, procurement, tracking, implementation and follow up.
  • Supports new product/tooling/equipment commissioning and operational launch.
  • Performs ongoing, regular assessment of existing equipment/processes and makes recommendations for cost, manufacturability, functionality, and quality improvements.
  • Supports company Safety program, including inspections, training and policy development.

Requirements

  • BS degree in Engineering field; or equivalent education/experience
  • 6+ years of experience in engineering and technical disciplines required
  • Experience in plastic processing and project management preferred
  • Experience with extrusion and thermoforming is preferred
  • Proficiency in automation systems is a plus
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency in MS Office Suite and various IT/MIS applications, including ERP/MRP systems
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence project outcomes
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, etc.)
