About the position

The Engineer's role at World Wide Technology (WWT) is pivotal in ensuring that industry best practices and methodologies are applied to the implementation, deployment, and operations of Desktop and Workstation systems. This position requires a highly skilled individual who can provide technical guidance and leadership to both the customer and the engineering team, ensuring that project timelines are met effectively. As the technical point of contact for the customer, the Engineer will be responsible for addressing various technical challenges and ensuring that the systems operate smoothly and efficiently. In this role, the Engineer will provide comprehensive application and hardware support for remotely deployed workstations. This includes a strong focus on Windows operating systems, patching, application installations, and reimaging processes. The Engineer must be prepared to travel on short notice to meet clients at their worksites, demonstrating flexibility and responsiveness to client needs. Additionally, the Engineer will oversee and perform upgrades on existing equipment, hardware, and software, ensuring that all systems are up-to-date and functioning optimally. The responsibilities also extend to the installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of customer-managed hardware, software, and peripheral devices. Monitoring performance and troubleshooting problem areas as needed is a critical aspect of this role. Familiarity with Service Desk and Field Support processes and procedures is essential to ensure that all support requests are handled efficiently and effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Provide application and hardware support for remotely deployed workstations.
  • Experience in Windows OS, patching, application installations, and reimaging.
  • Ability to travel on short notice to meet clients at worksites.
  • Oversee and perform existing equipment, hardware, and software upgrades.
  • Perform installation, configuration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of customer-managed hardware, software, and peripheral devices.
  • Monitor performance and troubleshoot problem areas as needed.
  • Familiar with Service Desk and Field Support processes and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field preferred.
  • At least 5 years of experience designing, deploying, and implementing Desktop/Workstation systems.
  • Working technical knowledge of SCCM, Active Directory, Windows Command Line, and general hardware break/fix.
  • Strong knowledge of implementing, migrating, and troubleshooting systems.
  • Certifications at Associate or Professional level preferred.
  • Knowledge or experience with multiple technology disciplines is a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills with the ability to work well in a collaborative environment.
  • Highly self-motivated and directed, with keen attention to detail.
  • Able to effectively prioritize tasks in a high-pressure environment.
  • Strong customer service orientation with proven analytical and problem-solving abilities.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with multiple technology disciplines is a plus.
  • Certifications at Associate or Professional level preferred.
