About the position

Samsung Semiconductor, Inc. is seeking a DRAM Application Engineer to join the application engineering team in Austin, TX. This role focuses on providing technical support, troubleshooting customer issues, and collaborating with internal R&D teams to ensure the quality and performance of Samsung memory products. The engineer will engage in hands-on work with memory validation, signal integrity, and timing analysis, contributing to the development of next-generation server CPUs.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical support for customers and partners, addressing technical issues and troubleshooting urgent problems.
  • Conduct joint validation efforts and self-qualifications of memory products.
  • Collaborate with local customer engineering teams to resolve issues and improve product performance.
  • Perform signal integrity (SI) and power integrity (PI) measurements and timing analysis on DRAM products.
  • Create experiments and tools to detect and diagnose memory health issues proactively.
  • Develop and publish updates on resolutions and communicate findings to internal teams.
  • Drive discussions with external and internal teams regarding test specifications and methodologies to enhance test quality.
  • Complete additional responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Computer Science, or related Physical Science with 3+ years of experience, or a Master's degree in a related field.
  • Familiarity with Unix/Linux Operating Systems and scripting languages.
  • Hands-on experience with lab equipment such as digital multimeters, oscilloscopes, power supplies, and logic analyzers.
  • Experience with DRAM memory products and knowledge of signal integrity/power integrity (SI/PI) and timing measurements.
  • Understanding of modern server architectures and components (CPU, Memory, Networking, PCIe).
  • Expertise in lab setup and maintenance, including precision PCB/component rework.
  • Experience with test automation and data analysis.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills for driving test plans and debugging activities.
