The Engineer - Electric System Engineering position at Avangrid Service Company is a critical role within the Projects Organization, focusing on the oversight of a portfolio of projects related to electric delivery infrastructure in New York. The engineer will be responsible for ensuring that all projects comply with regulatory requirements and company standards, maintaining consistency throughout the project lifecycle. This role involves the design, review, and approval of protection and control equipment designs, ensuring they meet applicable codes and standards such as NESC, FERC, NERC, NPCC, NYISO, and NY PSC. The Senior Electrical Engineer will report directly to the Unit Manager and will collaborate closely with cross-functional project teams to support project needs as directed by the Project Manager and Unit Manager. In this position, the engineer will perform engineering design, estimating, and analysis of electric transmission and substation protection systems, supporting both capital and customer-funded projects. Responsibilities include developing engineering conceptual designs for substations and transmission line projects, participating in detailed design reviews, performing engineering calculations, and approving detailed protection system designs. The engineer will also oversee the quality aspects of engineering, ensuring compliance with design standards and accuracy of documentation, field analysis, and reporting. Additionally, the role involves leading collaborative analyses and reviews of projects, studies, and best practices with engineering peers, as well as reviewing large customer interconnections and distributed energy resource interconnections to substations and circuits. The engineer will provide support during storm restoration efforts and assist during construction and testing phases as required. This position is essential for maintaining the integrity and reliability of Avangrid's electric delivery systems, ensuring that all engineering practices align with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
