About the position

This position for an Electrical Engineer is crucial in supporting nuclear plant operations through advanced engineering problem-solving. The engineer will be responsible for making technical decisions and will possess superior knowledge in their functional discipline, along with a comprehensive understanding of applicable industry codes and regulations. The role requires functioning with recognized industry-level expertise in a technical area, ensuring that all engineering activities align with safety, reliability, maintainability, and availability standards while meeting customer needs and regulatory requirements. The engineer will perform independent research, reviews, studies, and analyses to support various technical projects. They will provide in-depth technical expertise to develop, manage, and implement engineering activities, ensuring compliance with corporate policies and regulatory requirements. The position also involves accountability for the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of work, ensuring proper configuration management and adherence to standard design criteria, practices, and codes in the preparation of plans and specifications. In addition, the engineer will provide technical expertise and consultation to identify and resolve equipment and system problems, manage engineering issues, and recommend new concepts and techniques to improve performance, reduce costs, and comply with changes in codes or regulations. The role includes supporting plant design modifications, testing, and problem-solving, as well as developing and coordinating functional supervisory activities related to engineering personnel, budgetary accountabilities, and planning goals.

Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced engineering problem solving in support of nuclear plant operations.
  • Make technical decisions based on superior knowledge in functional discipline and applicable industry codes and regulations.
  • Conduct independent research, reviews, studies, and analyses in support of technical projects.
  • Provide in-depth technical expertise to develop, manage, and implement engineering activities related to plant safety, reliability, maintainability, and availability.
  • Ensure compliance with customer needs, regulatory requirements, and corporate policies.
  • Accountable for the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of work, ensuring proper configuration management.
  • Provide technical expertise and consultation to identify and resolve equipment and system problems.
  • Manage engineering issues and recommend equipment, new concepts, and techniques to improve performance and reduce costs.
  • Support plant design modifications, testing, and problem-solving activities.
  • Develop, implement, and coordinate functional supervisory activities including personnel and budgetary accountabilities.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Engineering or Licensed Professional Engineer and 5+ years engineering experience for Senior Engineer level.
  • B.S. in Engineering or Licensed Professional Engineer and 8-10+ years of engineering experience with 5+ years of Power Plant, Industrial, or Manufacturing experience for Senior Staff Engineer level.

Nice-to-haves

  • Solid performance rating for the last 2 years, meeting all Engineer 2 and 3 criteria.
  • Recognized fleet or industry expert in knowledge and skill area.
  • Registered structural or professional engineer.
  • Masters or PhD in engineering or physical science related to knowledge and skills area.
  • Site/Corporate leadership experience such as leading HITs or project managing outages.
  • Industry leadership experience such as chairing committees or leading industry initiatives.
