About the position

The Engineer, Electrical/I&C (B) position is responsible for overseeing the technical aspects of Electrical and Instrumentation & Controls (I&C) systems within Coal, Gas, and Hydro fossil plants. This role involves evaluating current and future electrical needs, troubleshooting system issues, and leading projects to optimize plant performance. The engineer will also prepare specifications, manage project scopes, and ensure proper documentation of plant configuration changes.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and direct studies to evaluate electrical/instrumentation needs for fossil plants.
  • Assist in resolving equipment and system problems as requested.
  • Conduct technical monitoring, analysis, evaluation, and investigation of plant systems and equipment.
  • Initiate improvements, repairs, maintenance, and modifications to optimize plant objectives.
  • Identify deviations in plant performance, determine root causes, and recommend solutions.
  • Serve as owner engineer for assigned projects and Joint Project Teams.
  • Prepare and review specifications, cost benefit ratios, and estimates for new equipment installations or upgrades.
  • Lead the development of Outage Scoping and serve as a technical advisor during outages.
  • Oversee daily plant monitoring and testing activities performed by Technical Services Analysts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical, Electrical Controls, Computer or comparable Engineering degree from an accredited engineering school.
  • Several years of progressive experience as a plant or field engineer or in a comparable engineering position.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in engineering as evidenced by completion of Engineering Graduate Progression Plan or equivalent education and experience.
  • License as a Professional Engineer is desirable.

Nice-to-haves

  • Proficiency in site/field engineering for Coal, Gas, Hydro Power Plant Systems and Equipment.
  • Experience with industry standards and codes.
  • Familiarity with project management and construction processes.
