About the position

We have an exciting opportunity for a CAD Drafter with Medical Device design experience. This position is primarily focused on working within a regulated environment, specifically in the medical device sector. The CAD Drafter will be responsible for collaborating with a cross-functional team to organize and enhance the print and Bill of Materials (BOM) structures in Windchill (WNC). The role requires a solid understanding of SolidWorks, as the individual will be tasked with creating and modifying engineering drawings, as well as performing adjustments rather than extensive design work. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in CAD modeling, particularly with SolidWorks, and will be responsible for modeling complex parts, including the use of design tables, surfacing, and managing complex assemblies. Additionally, the CAD Drafter will work closely with manufacturing personnel to ensure that parts are designed for manufacturability, which includes creating manufacturing drawings that comply with ASME Y14.5 standards. The position also involves conducting design analyses to assess the feasibility of designs, including Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and other written calculations. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills are essential, as is the ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. The candidate should be able to independently solve problems related to mechanical design and obtain necessary information in a timely manner.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to organize and improve print and BOM structures in Windchill (WNC).
  • Create and modify engineering drawings based on specifications and requirements.
  • Model complex parts using SolidWorks CAD software, including design tables, surfacing, and complex assemblies.
  • Work with manufacturing personnel to ensure parts are designed for manufacturability.
  • Create manufacturing drawings for each component per ASME Y14.5 standards.
  • Perform design analyses to determine the feasibility of designs, including FEA and written calculations.
  • Independently solve problems within mechanical design and obtain necessary information in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • Solid experience with SolidWorks CAD software.
  • Recent experience with Windchill (WNC).
  • Experience working in a regulated environment, specifically in the medical device industry.
  • Demonstrated ability to create and work from engineering drawings.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
