About the position

Turner Construction is seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to manage, evaluate, and assess information related to Mechanical and Electrical systems necessary for the timely and safe construction of projects. The role is critical in ensuring that all work is completed within budget and adheres to the quality specified by the contract documents. The Electrical Engineer will lead the project team, including subcontractors and owner's consultants, to ensure optimal alignment and efficient systems installation. This position requires a proactive approach to managing the contract items list for all components, materials, and systems, ensuring compliance with project schedules and approval statuses. In this role, the Electrical Engineer will participate in schedule update meetings, providing the latest information to maintain an informed and accurate project timeline. They will evaluate and manage the processing of Requests for Information (RFIs) and oversee the budget, including the review, evaluation, and negotiation of change orders while understanding the financial status of all subcontractors. The position also involves supervising, coaching, and mentoring Assistant MEP Engineers, co-leading the MEP Coordination Process with the VDC Engineer, and ensuring that installations comply with design requirements and quality standards. The Electrical Engineer will prepare scope of work documents, partner with the MEP Superintendent to resolve conflicts between mechanical and electrical systems, and co-lead the overall turnover process, including start-up, testing, commissioning, and closeout. Regular project walkthroughs will be conducted to ensure compliance with contract documents and approved submittals. The role also includes managing municipal and agency documentation required for temporary certificates of information and system operation, as well as creating and implementing a quality control plan with the MEP Superintendent.

Responsibilities

  • Manage, evaluate, and assess information related to Mechanical and Electrical systems necessary for project construction.
  • Lead the project team, subcontractors, and owner's consultants to ensure efficient systems installation.
  • Prepare and manage the contract item's list for all components, materials, and systems.
  • Participate in schedule update meetings and provide the latest information for an accurate schedule.
  • Evaluate and manage the processing of RFIs.
  • Manage the budget, including reviewing, evaluating, and negotiating change orders.
  • Supervise, coach, and mentor Assistant MEP Engineers.
  • Co-lead the MEP Coordination Process with the VDC Engineer.
  • Prepare scope of work documents with a division of responsibility for trades.
  • Partner with the MEP Superintendent to resolve conflicts between mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Co-lead the overall turnover process including start-up, testing, commissioning, and closeout.
  • Conduct regular project walkthroughs with the MEP staff.
  • Identify and inform field staff of difficult installation requirements.
  • Manage and secure all municipal and agency documentation required for temporary certificates of information and system operation.
  • Create and implement the quality control plan with the MEP Superintendent.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering.
  • Minimum of four years of relevant engineering experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Technical expertise in mechanical and electrical systems.
  • Strong business acumen to plan, manage, and execute essential duties.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong organizational ability and proficiency with computer applications.
  • Demonstrated leadership attributes to encourage team development.
