About the position

The Engineer - Electrification is responsible for designing functional, reliable, and cost-effective high voltage electrical systems for heavy-duty vehicles. This role involves performing engineering analysis, electrical design, and development of electrical systems and subsystems for both existing and new vehicles, while collaborating with senior engineers and other disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Perform basic engineering calculations, investigations, and tasks as assigned according to Oshkosh and general industry engineering standards.
• Support senior engineers in the preparation of basic plans, designs, computation methods, and reporting.
• Work on projects of limited complexity in a support role under close supervision.
• Collaborate with other engineering or business support disciplines internally and with suppliers externally.
• Design electrical parts and components to meet specifications while ensuring quality, cost reliability, and ease of manufacturing.
• Provide technical assistance for prototype, pilot, or production builds, including problem resolution in manufacturing.
• Process engineering information through change notices, change proposals, and create thorough print documentation.

Requirements

• Accredited Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field with internship experience or six months related work experience.
• Familiarity with programming languages and controls software.
• Familiarity with Controller Area Network (CAN)/SAE J1939 protocol.
• Automotive High Voltage Training/Certification(s).
• Familiarity with Power Electronics and Machines.
• Familiarity with Energy Storage systems.
