About the position

Nintendo Technology Development, a subsidiary of Nintendo Co., Ltd., is seeking an Entry Level Engineer to join our team in Redmond, Washington. This position is integral to our mission of creating future hardware and software technology. The successful candidate will engage in CAD design entry for electrical printed circuit board (PCB) designs using industry-standard toolsets, including Orcad Schematic Capture and Allegro PCB design tools, or Altium Designer. Additionally, the Engineer will be responsible for designing mechanical parts such as brackets, cables, or housings using Solidworks, and will facilitate the manufacturing of these designs in collaboration with our technology partners. The role requires a strong understanding of PCB design principles, including transmission line theory and its implications for practical design. The Engineer will work on high-speed signaling and power delivery systems, incorporating elements such as PCIE, DDR4, MIPI, and SD/SD Express into their designs. A thorough knowledge of IPC standards and design for manufacturing best practices is essential, as the Engineer will ensure that all designs are manufacturable, reliable, and economically viable. The position is onsite, emphasizing collaboration and hands-on work within our innovative environment.

Responsibilities

  • Perform CAD design entry for electrical printed circuit board designs using Orcad Schematic Capture, Allegro PCB design tools, or Altium Designer.
  • Design mechanical parts such as brackets, cables, or housings using Solidworks.
  • Facilitate the manufacturing of circuit boards and mechanical designs with technology partners.
  • Apply transmission line theory to PCB design to ensure practical applications.
  • Incorporate high-speed signaling and power delivery elements into PCB designs.
  • Ensure compliance with IPC standards and design for manufacturing best practices.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of related experience in PCB design.
  • Experience with industry-standard PCB design tools such as Altium, Orcad, and Allegro.
  • Knowledge of transmission line theory as it applies to PCB design.
  • Experience with high-speed signaling and power delivery on PCB designs.
  • Expert knowledge of IPC standards and design for manufacturing best practices.
  • Working knowledge of circuit board assembly processes.

Nice-to-haves

  • Current knowledge of Solidworks and experience in creating mechanical parts.
  • Familiarity with FCC part 15 and design best practices for regulatory compliance.
  • Understanding of basic discrete transistor theory and common topologies for transistor-based IO.
  • Knowledge of Ethernet, USB, UART, RS232, and I2C signaling.
