About the position

The Equipment Engineer III position is responsible for the engineering of small cell, macro cell, and 5G equipment. This role involves managing equipment schedules, vendor relationships, and overall project management to ensure technology upgrades are implemented effectively. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with various network teams to meet project timelines and quality standards while managing purchasing and asset management activities.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate and coordinate with multiple Network teams to ensure technology upgrades are implemented properly.
  • Communicate deployment schedules and priorities with vendors and engineering groups to meet timelines.
  • Determine and deploy equipment engineering designs in accordance with client's directives and industry standards.
  • Manage purchasing and asset management activities to meet financial metrics.
  • Oversee vendor resource management and budget planning to ensure network growth and technology needs are met on time.
  • Work with vendors to obtain quotes, negotiate pricing, and ensure compliance with standards.
  • Monitor compliance with all client's Wireless & industry standards and practices.
  • Ensure inspections and verifications are performed for all installs, meeting quality standards.
  • Monitor equipment expenditures, prepare purchase orders, and ensure vendor payment.

Requirements

  • Associates degree or two or more years of work experience.
  • 5-7 years of experience in equipment engineering and project management.
  • High level knowledge of 5G network architecture and equipment.
  • Experience managing large scale projects interfacing between multiple teams.
  • Experience in vendor management, equipment ordering, and forecasting.
  • Ability to read, understand, and comment on construction drawings.
  • Experience in 4G network architecture and CRAN architecture.
  • Experience driving troubleshooting efforts.
  • Ability to define results and manage teams to deliver on those results.

  • Ability to work well both independently and in diverse teams.
  • Strong critical thinking, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Experience in defining and developing reporting methods.
  • Ability to lead technical discussions with individuals of varying technical positions.
  • Understanding of IP assignments and OSI model protocols.
  • Experience managing teams.
