About the position

As a Field Service Engineer at Hyundai Motor America, you will play a crucial role in providing on-site diagnostic and troubleshooting assistance to Hyundai and Genesis dealers. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure that the dealers are equipped with the necessary support to meet the Fix It Right First-Time and Total Cost of Quality goals. This position requires a proactive approach to problem recognition and data collection from the field, which will be instrumental in enhancing the overall quality of service provided by the dealerships. You will work closely with various teams, including Quality & Service Engineering, Partner Assembly Plants, and other quality groups, to organize and support Task Force Teams, conduct Quality Inspections, and participate in Go and See visits. Your expertise will be vital in identifying emerging technical conditions and concerns at dealerships, and you will be responsible for preparing detailed quality reports that include photographs, illustrations, and recommended solutions. In addition to providing technical assistance, you will also be involved in acquiring incident components and securing related data to support the Quality & Service Engineering team. Your role will require you to interface with Regional DPSMs to improve Fix Right First-Time percentages and assist in buyback prevention efforts. You will also be expected to maintain the highest achievable Master Technician status with Hyundai and provide technical support to various departments as needed. This position is dynamic and requires a commitment to continuous learning and development in the automotive field.

Responsibilities

  • Provide on-site diagnostic and troubleshooting assistance to Hyundai and Genesis dealers.
  • Work closely with Quality & Service Engineering and other quality groups to support Task Force Teams and Quality Inspections.
  • Identify emerging technical conditions at dealerships and report findings to Quality & Service Engineering.
  • Prepare written quality FSE reports with detailed explanations and recommended solutions.
  • Obtain incident components and secure related data for Quality & Service Engineering.
  • Research reported concerns and study the effectiveness of field solutions with Engineering Groups.
  • Assist Regional DPSMs in improving Fix Right First-Time percentage and reducing buyback potential.
  • Provide technical support to Regional Field staff, Consumer Affairs, Parts, Legal, NASO, and Warranty departments.
  • Conduct other tasks related to the purpose of this position as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school graduate required; Bachelor's degree preferred; Master's degree a plus.
  • Six to seven years of experience in automotive fixed operations and wholesale experience desirable.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Photoshop.
  • Experience using Hyundai & Genesis Workshop and Diagnostic Equipment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to work independently in the field while collaborating with headquarters staff.
  • Capable of multi-tasking, setting priorities, and scheduling work activities with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to resolve problems, think analytically, and communicate professionally in high-pressure environments.
  • Self-starter, enthusiastic, team player, committed, hardworking, honest, and effective.

Nice-to-haves

  • Dealership experience as an ASE Master Technician preferred.
  • Outgoing personality that works well as both a leader and a team member.
