About the position

KSS is seeking a dynamic and passionate Field Service Engineer to join our team in Wilmington, MA. This role is pivotal in assisting clients with the commissioning of membrane systems, maintaining existing systems, auditing customer processes, and troubleshooting technical problems. The ideal candidate will be open to learning and taking feedback, demonstrating pride in their work. As a Field Service Engineer, you will work closely with KSS's process engineering, controls engineering, and project management teams, allowing for cross-disciplinary learning across various industries where KSS membranes and systems are critical. In this position, you will become the face of KSS while on-site, recommending spare parts and service solutions to enhance machine uptime, maintenance, and operation. You will also manage documentation to improve both internal and external processes. When not traveling, your responsibilities will include troubleshooting customer issues via telephone, email, and online meetings, preparing system documentation, and supporting KSS's pilot system program. This role requires a commitment to customer service and technical excellence, ensuring that our clients receive the highest level of support and expertise.

Responsibilities

  • Perform service activities on membrane systems including MBR, UF, NF, and RO filtration both in person and remotely.
  • Organize and prioritize schedule based on customer requirements for immediate attention, onsite visits, and remote assistance.
  • Travel to customer sites for system commissioning, maintenance, auditing, and troubleshooting.
  • Conduct customer training sessions.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, mechanical, and digital issues including PLC code and HMI applications.
  • Manage system documentation for accurate data recording and process recommendations.
  • Collaborate with Quality, Process, and Design Engineering to improve test methods and resolve identified problems.
  • Conduct site inspections to ensure installation compliance with KSS drawings and specifications.
  • Maintain accurate service logs and enter them into the system database.
  • Support customers remotely via KSS's technical services telephone line.
  • Assist in preparing KSS pilot systems for customer trials.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or 3+ years of experience in electrical and mechanical troubleshooting.
  • Excellent customer focus with the ability to respond reliably to inquiries and communicate with all client levels.
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex technical issues simply.
  • Experience with ladder logic and HMI applications preferred.
  • Experience with electrical troubleshooting preferred.
  • Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with quality management systems (ISO 9001 or ISO 13485).
  • Willingness to travel within the United States approximately 50% of the time, with limited travel to other regions as required.
  • Flexibility in working different time shifts to accommodate customer needs.
  • Hands-on experience with PLC systems is a plus.
  • Strong leadership, time management, and problem-solving skills.
