The Engineer, Hardware Safety Electronics position is designed for an experienced professional specializing in Safety Electronics packaging and mechanical development. The ideal candidate will exhibit a proactive attitude and approach their work with vigor and determination. This role demands excellence in the respective fields, a quick learning ability, and a commitment to perfection in a fast-paced environment. In this role, the engineer will be responsible for the design release of Safety Electronics hardware, supporting Design Engineers in the mechanical integration and release of Safety Electronics components. The engineer will maintain Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) data for Safety Electronic Components and collaborate closely with the design studio and interior engineering teams to develop optimal restraint system packages that ensure occupant protection performance while aligning with interior styling. Additionally, the engineer will manage Tier 1 suppliers for both engineering development and program timing, working in conjunction with the supply chain team to meet key program and vehicle milestones. Responsibilities also include defining electrical interface documentation, selecting connectors, and determining pinouts. The engineer will work closely with the vehicle electrical harness team to integrate the safety sub-system into the overall vehicle electrical architecture and support the vehicle homologation team to ensure regulatory compliance of the systems. The role requires providing expertise on Safety Electronics system design to meet all vehicle targets, including performance, cost, timing, weight, studio design, quality, and manufacturing.
