About the position
This position is responsible for performing challenging engineering work under supervision, focusing on planning, designing, and overseeing construction, installation, operation, and maintenance of components, systems, and facilities related to electrical energy transmission and distribution. The role involves assisting in smaller engineering projects and developing competencies in various engineering functions.
Responsibilities
- Assists in the work on smaller engineering projects or well-defined areas of larger projects.
- Uses existing procedures to investigate, evaluate, and assist in producing technically correct and cost-effective designs or recommendations.
- Builds relationships that facilitate knowledge transfer and cross-functional knowledge of related work groups.
- Works under supervision in the field and/or home office in a variety of functions and structured work.
- Gathers and correlates basic engineering data using well-defined engineering procedures, including routine and diagnostic testing of components and systems.
- Continually expands and improves technical and business skill set with guidance from others.
- Assists in developing innovative procedures, improved design recommendations, or better equipment purchase recommendations.
- May be assigned to an Electric Utilities emergency and storm role, necessitating after-hours work during emergencies.
Requirements
- A bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited college or university (Engineer I).
- Minimum of two years related experience (Engineer II).
- Minimum of five years related experience and working knowledge of utility industry and regulations (Engineer III).
- Minimum of 10 years related experience and working knowledge of utility industry and regulations (Principal Engineer).
