About the position
Idaho Power is seeking an Engineer I, II, or Senior to join the Power Production team in Boise, Idaho. This role involves planning and leading projects related to power generation, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and supporting the maintenance of generation assets. The position offers flexible scheduling and the opportunity to work remotely up to 40% of the time, making it an exciting opportunity to contribute to the company's mission of providing reliable and clean energy to customers in Idaho and Oregon.
Responsibilities
- Plans and leads projects, assignments, and technical investigations.
- Acts as a liaison between other departments and organizations.
- Evaluates progress and results, recommending changes in procedures.
- Exercises moderate technical judgment in decision-making and independent action.
- Responsible for budgeting, financial accountability, and timelines on assigned projects.
- Utilizes industry and discipline-related knowledge to interpret and comply with regulations as required by NERC, FERC, WECC, EPA, NESC, OSHA, FCC, etc.
- Supports generation operations, including investigation of protective trip operations and optimization of water use.
- Administers arc flash analysis and generator testing programs.
- Ensures compliance with NERC Reliability and Security Standards.
- Coordinates protection systems and supports refurbishment of generators.
- Monitors and tunes generator controls and battery energy storage systems.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited institution or a non-ABET accredited institution with a Professional Engineer (PE) license.
- Engineer I: 0-2 years of related experience.
- Engineer II: 2 years of related experience.
- Senior Engineer: 6 years of related engineering experience or 5 years with a PE or advanced degree and 3 years in the area of expertise.
- Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
Nice-to-haves
- Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited institution.
- Engineer in Training (EIT) designation for Engineer I or II.
- PE license for Senior Engineer.
