About the position

The Engineer I/II - Structural position at Electric Boat is an entry-level role focused on structural engineering within the submarine construction domain. The role involves troubleshooting construction issues in the shipyard and performing technical evaluations through calculations and reports. Engineers will gain exposure to various submarine structures and work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, ensuring the quality of the submarines being built for the U.S. Navy.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot construction issues in the shipyard.
  • Perform technical evaluations via calculations and reports.
  • Develop knowledge in submarine structures including pressure hulls, bulkheads, and component foundations.
  • Collaborate with team members in a fast-paced environment.
  • Communicate effectively with customers and shipyard trades.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree or higher in Mechanical Engineering or Civil/Structural Engineering.
  • 0 - 4 years of experience in structural engineering.

Nice-to-haves

  • Classes focused in material science, welding, machine design, or finite element analysis.
  • Classes focused in structural analysis.
