About the position

This position is responsible for providing knowledge in civil engineering, particularly in the context of hydroelectric projects. The selected candidate will work under supervision and will be involved in systems or facilities that impact plant or system reliability and non-critical assets. The role requires developing external contacts that influence project outcomes and collaborating with other engineers to provide expert recommendations. The position primarily involves technical engineering functions and is designed for a developing engineer in their field of expertise. The incumbent will manage low to moderately complex projects and will have low to moderate decision-making authority. Key responsibilities include assessing, monitoring, analyzing, and reporting on dam safety engineering aspects associated with the District's hydroelectric projects. The engineer will write and review technical documents for both internal and external audiences, compile and analyze dam monitoring data, and assist in meeting FERC Engineering Guidelines related to structural and geotechnical stability, hydraulic considerations, and emergency action planning. The role also involves reviewing engineering work requests, preparing technical specifications, generating and revising drawings, and inspecting equipment in the field. The engineer will coordinate and conduct engineering studies and projects, develop and implement procedures, and analyze system requirements to verify integrity. They will specify equipment, work with vendors, and manage documentation for Grant PUD's infrastructure. The position requires effective communication with various stakeholders and oversight of contractors and consultants. As the engineer gains experience, they will take on more responsible work and participate in project budgeting and management under the direction of a supervisor. The role emphasizes a commitment to Grant PUD's mission and adherence to compliance and safety requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Assess, monitor, analyze, and report on dam safety engineering aspects associated with the District's hydroelectric projects.
  • Write and/or review technical documents including letters, reports, studies, and analyses for internal and external audiences including FERC D2SI.
  • Compile, analyze, interpret and report on dam monitoring data associated with dam performance.
  • Assist with all aspects of meeting the FERC Engineering Guidelines pertinent to the District's hydroelectric projects.
  • Review engineering work requests to determine scope, cost, and justification for the work request.
  • Prepare technical specifications and build material lists.
  • Generate new drawings or revise existing drawings.
  • Inspect equipment in the field and analyze variations from original designs.
  • Coordinate and conduct engineering and other studies, projects, and systems.
  • Develop, implement, and coordinate procedures, functions, and activities.
  • Analyze system requirements and perform calculations required to verify system integrity.
  • Specify equipment, work with vendors, and obtain quotes as needed.
  • Research and analyze technical information and data to prepare reports.
  • Manage proper documentation, mapping, and safety planning for all aspects of Grant PUD's infrastructure.
  • Function as main point of contact with various internal and external stakeholders.
  • Perform site inspections and assist with field inspections of projects for conformance to approved plans.
  • Participate in the formulation of budgets for projects including planning, design, regulatory, and construction phases.
  • Perform Project Management under the direction of the Supervisor on small/simple projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering.
  • 1 year of experience in a related field.
  • A valid State driver's license.

Nice-to-haves
