About the position

The Process Improvement Engineer will play a crucial role in supporting the Production team within the Filling and Assembly Process at Shiseido. This position is focused on fostering continuous transformation in the industrial operation by developing, implementing, and ensuring compliance with Cosmetic Production Processes. Under the guidance of the Production Engineering Supervisor, the engineer will be responsible for providing leadership and strategic direction, as well as spearheading Improvement Initiatives that promote a culture of high performance, exceptional quality, and cost efficiency. This may involve utilizing existing production processes and technology or innovating new components, particularly in packaging. The role requires the engineer to proactively drive projects and collaborate with team members to ensure timely completion of tasks. Adaptability to fast-changing environments is essential, as is a willingness to take calculated risks and explore new approaches to enhance the organization's competitive edge. The engineer will be expected to identify and analyze opportunities for improvement in production operations, focusing on performance, quality, and cost. This includes reviewing and approving technical engineering processes and drawings, performing statistical analyses on testing data, and participating in line trials and process validations. In addition to engineering and testing responsibilities, the engineer will manage multiple launch projects with minimal supervision, ensuring that all actions meet established timelines. They will also support and execute changes to the Bill of Materials (BOM) for existing products, which may involve new product introductions, artwork updates, material changes, and new tertiary pack outs. The role requires effective collaboration with various stakeholders, including Production Operations, Technical Engineering, Brand Marketing, Product Development, Procurement, Packaging Engineering, and component suppliers.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and analyze opportunities in production operation processes to drive improvements in performance, quality, and cost.
  • Review and approve technical engineering processes and drawings for components and assemblies.
  • Perform statistical analysis from testing data to assess specification values.
  • Attend line trials and process validation to ensure compliance and effectiveness.
  • Manage multiple launch projects with limited supervision, ensuring all required actions meet timeline due dates.
  • Support and perform changes to the Bill of Materials (BOM) for existing products, including new products, artwork updates, material changes, and new tertiary pack outs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Package Engineering or another Engineering discipline (mechanical, material science).
  • 3 years of experience in Cosmetics, Pharmaceuticals, Chemicals, or Consumer Goods Production teams.
  • Knowledge of Filling and Assembly processes and high-speed machines is preferred.
  • Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or Black Belt) is recommended.
  • Basic knowledge of molding processes, resins, and package testing methods.
  • Basic knowledge of CAD software and 3D printing.
