About the position

The Process Engineer I at LG Energy Solution Michigan Inc. plays a crucial role in enhancing the productivity and sustainability of electric vehicle (EV) battery production. This position requires a high level of technical knowledge to ensure stable mass production quality and to drive product development improvements. The engineer will be responsible for recipe setting, specification alignment, process capability management, and high-quality defect improvement, all grounded in a solid understanding of the processes and equipment involved in battery manufacturing. In this role, the Process Engineer I will analyze productivity, yield, and overall equipment efficiency (OEE) within their assigned processes and departments. They will collaborate closely with engineers and operators to troubleshoot machinery, ensuring the highest possible yield and OEE. Additionally, the engineer will address quality issues by providing corrective actions and improving production processes through the creation of standard operating procedures (SOPs). Training operators on these SOPs is essential to ensure proper understanding and implementation on the production floor. Compliance with health, safety, environmental, and fire regulations is a critical aspect of this position. The engineer will also be involved in specification optimization and establishing process conditions, as well as creating process flow diagrams (PFD), conducting process failure mode and effects analysis (PFMEA), and developing control plans (CP). Chronic defect improvement activities and the dissemination of production and development models will be part of their responsibilities, along with conducting internal and customer audits, handling non-conformance reports, and responding to quality issues raised by customers. Maintaining cleanliness at the worksite in accordance with 5S3R standards is also a key duty, ensuring a safe and efficient working environment.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze productivity, yield and overall equipment efficiency (OEE) of assigned process and department
  • Work with engineers and operators to troubleshoot machines to ensure highest yield and OEE
  • Analyze Quality issues to provide corrective actions
  • Improve production processes by creating various SOPs and train operators to ensure understanding and correct implementation to floor
  • Compliance with health/safety/environmental/fire regulations
  • Spec. optimization and process conditions establishment
  • Create process flow diagrams (PFD) and conduct process failure mode and effects analysis (PFMEA)
  • Engage in chronic defect improvement activities
  • Disseminate production/development models and verify 4M changes
  • Conduct internal and customer audits
  • Handle non-conformance reports and implement improvements
  • Respond to internal/external quality issues for the customer
  • Establish and revise PFD and PF Manual
  • Maintain cleanliness at work-site in accordance with 5S3R Standards: Sort, Set in order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain, Right Location, Right Quantity, Right Container
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field, MBA or MS preferred, or equivalent relevant experience
  • 1-3+ years' of experience in production technology related job preferred but not required
