About the position

The Engineer I - Transmission and Distribution Rotational Program at Arizona Public Service (APS) is designed for recent graduates in engineering disciplines, particularly those with a focus on Mechanical, Electrical, or Civil Engineering. This program offers a unique opportunity for candidates to engage in four 6-month assignments across various sectors of the transmission, distribution, and substation organizations. The goal is to provide a comprehensive understanding of the functions and operations within these areas, ultimately leading to a permanent position in one of the departments after the two-year rotational period. During the rotational program, candidates will have the chance to work in diverse areas such as distribution planning, overhead and underground line design, substation design, system protection and controls engineering, and advanced grid technologies. This hands-on experience is crucial for developing the necessary skills and knowledge to support the design, development, modification, and implementation of various transmission and distribution systems. Candidates will also assist in conducting engineering analyses, preparing business cases, and providing technical support for engineering systems in their assigned areas. The role requires flexibility regarding geographic work locations within Arizona, as assignments may be located throughout the state, primarily within the Phoenix Metropolitan area. Successful candidates will be expected to perform tasks that require a basic application of engineering fundamentals, support project assessments, and ensure compliance with established standards and regulations. This position is ideal for individuals who are eager to learn, grow, and contribute to APS's mission of creating a sustainable energy future for Arizona.
