About the position

Grande Cheese Company is seeking a highly skilled candidate to assume our available role of Engineer II - Automation & Controls. In this role you will apply standard engineering techniques to design, develop, install and maintain industrial instrumentation and controls systems for the manufacturing of Cheese and Whey products. To see success in this role, you will exercise accuracy in programming languages and have excellent time management skills as you assume responsibility to lead the automation and control portion of projects, for small to mid sized capital projects.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, install and maintain industrial instrumentation and controls systems for cheese and whey manufacturing.
  • Lead the automation and control portion of small to mid-sized capital projects.
  • Troubleshoot and diagnose problems in industrial control systems.
  • Recommend improvements based on diagnostics and troubleshooting results.
  • Interpret technical information and utilize it to guide methods and procedures.

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Electrical Controls or related field required.
  • Associate's degree and five (5) or more years of related experience with controls and instrumentation systems; or Bachelor's degree and three (3) or more years of related engineering experience required.
  • Experience working with manufacturing facilities, preferably in food processing.
  • Proficiency with industrial automation control systems in at least three areas such as Motor Control, PLCs, HMI systems, AC Variable Speed Drives, Control Safety circuits, and Industrial Controls Networks.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and diagnose problems in control systems.
  • Strong written, verbal and presentation skills.
  • Advanced PC skills including Windows and Microsoft Office Suite.

Nice-to-haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related Engineering field preferred.
  • Project management certification and/or Professional Engineering license preferred.
  • Knowledge of USDA, FDA, OSHA and environmental regulations, codes, and standards.
