About the position

The Engineer II, Civil/Structural position at Zachry Nuclear Engineering, Inc. involves performing a variety of engineering and design activities related to power plant upgrades and new projects. The role requires applying knowledge of materials, structural analysis, and design principles under the supervision of senior engineering staff. The engineer will work collaboratively with project teams to evaluate conditions and develop design changes aimed at enhancing plant performance, safety, and reliability.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering and design activities for power plant upgrades and new projects.
• Apply knowledge of materials, structural analysis, piping stress analysis, structural steel design, and reinforced concrete design.
• Assist in developing calculations, modifications, specifications, and designs.
• Work on project teams to evaluate conditions and propose design changes to improve plant performance, safety, and reliability.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an ABET accredited university.
• Minimum of 2 years of civil/structural engineering experience.
• Demonstrated knowledge of industry codes including ACI, AISC, ASCE 7, and AWS.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with presentation skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Effective time management skills to handle multiple projects concurrently.
• Ability to pass security and drug screening, and maintain unescorted nuclear plant access.

Nice-to-haves

• Master's degree in civil engineering from an accredited university.
• Experience in the nuclear power industry and field experience on nuclear plant projects.
• Proficiency in structural analysis software (GT STRUDL, PD STRUDL, STAAD.Pro) and piping analysis software (ADLPIPE, AutoPIPE).
• Experience performing dynamic analyses with structural analysis software.
• Professional Engineer-In-Training registration (EIT).
