About the position

This position is for an engineer who can work within the Command & Data Handling (CDH) subsystem team to support the definition of requirements, development of the architecture, implementation of the design, and verification of the subsystem for a spacecraft. The Engineering, Science and Analysis (ESA) Strategic Capabilities Unit comprises the technical talent and organizational leadership that enables the successful delivery of high-impact discriminating technologies for our customers' missions. In this CDH engineering role, you will serve as the Command and Data Handling subsystem lead on Civil Space and National Defense bus programs, responsible for delivering a C&DH subsystem that meets program technical, cost, and schedule requirements. You will work daily with the larger CDH team on technical definition, implementation, and verification. Establishing solid working relationships within the CDH team and with system engineering team, integration and test team, and peers for the other spacecraft subsystems is crucial. You will support the definition and maintenance of the subsystem architecture and interfaces, requiring a strong hardware background. Your responsibilities will include generating verification and validation plans, and collaborating with the Integration and Test team to ensure the subsystem meets requirements. Technical writing will be a significant part of your role, including procedural definitions, specifications, interfaces, analysis support, and description documents. You will also prepare and give presentations to peers, customers, and management, while maintaining a regular and predictable work schedule. Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units, and the Company is essential to maintain a positive and productive work environment. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

Responsibilities

Requirements

• BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 5 or more years related experience.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in electronics or avionics subsystem design or test, or a related field.
• Understanding of requirements definition, decomposition, and flow-down, circuit design, interface definition, hardware specifications, interface control, analyses, and verification.
• Experience developing and delivering space qualified hardware.
• Intellectual curiosity combined with a desire to learn.
• Solid communication and presentation skills.
• Effective in multidisciplinary teamwork environment.
