About the position

The position involves preparing and participating in the definition and documentation of product specifications and technical/functional requirements. The role requires executing software program deliveries by capturing end user/market requirements, tracking action items, managing calibration program timelines, and completing software/calibration releases. The candidate will develop and document software logic in coordination with design engineers and electrical/hydraulic systems engineers to fulfill functional specifications or customer requirements. Responsibilities also include preparing, reviewing, and completing engineering change packages, designing controls architecture, and selecting system hardware for new or replacement electromechanical functions. The role involves creating and executing system-level development and validation test plans, providing technical support to field service, and assisting with identifying and implementing resolutions for production and warranty problems. Travel to the field and/or trade shows may be required, but is expected to be less than 20% of the time.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare or participate in definition and documentation of product specifications and product technical/functional requirements.
  • Execute software program deliveries by capturing end user/market requirements, tracking action items, managing calibration program timelines and completing software/calibration releases.
  • Develop and document software logic in coordination with design engineers and electrical/hydraulic systems engineers to fulfill functional specifications or customer requirements.
  • Prepare, review, and complete engineering change packages and provide harness and electrical system review and markups for others to review and action.
  • Design controls architecture and select system hardware for new or replacement electromechanical functions.
  • Develop, maintain, and document available software tools; Research new technologies that may improve our products and develop recommendations accordingly.
  • Create and execute system-level development and validation test plans, develop functional test procedures/scripts, and assist in performing verification testing.
  • Direct the building and troubleshooting of control system mock-ups, prototypes and test beds.
  • Provide technical support to field service in solving controls, software, electrical or hydraulic field problems.
  • Assist with identifying and implementing resolution of production and warranty problems.
  • Assist HMI display interaction design activities.
  • Assist engineering staff in gathering required information needed to support projects.
  • Perform other duties, assignments, and special projects as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering required; A degree in Electrical, Controls, Mechanical, Agricultural, Automotive or Mechatronics preferred.
  • Minimum five (5) years' experience as a software development engineer or calibration development engineer required.
  • Experience within the industrial, automotive or agricultural industry preferred.
  • Proficient in the design and troubleshooting of electrical harnessing required.
  • Proficient with a graphical controls logic development environment tool such as CODESYS (preferred), IQAN, Simulink, or related tool required.
  • Experience with automotive communication links required; experience with CAN/LIN, SAE J1939 preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of electromechanical system design, troubleshooting and repair required.
  • Ability to independently perform data acquisition, analysis and statistical methods required.
  • Experience in successfully working with a cross-functional team with a variety of skills is critical.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office suite of tools.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in automotive or mobile machinery system controls (braking, steering, powertrain) a plus.
  • Experience with linear or rotary motion controls and architecture a plus.
  • Understanding of electric vehicles and high voltage systems a plus.
  • Experience working with a release database for submitting Engineering Change Requests and Design Changes a plus.
  • Experience with JD Edwards is preferred.
