About the position

The Engineer II position within the Development Review Division of the Planning Services Department is a mid-level engineering role focused on technical engineering tasks related to Planning and Oil & Gas land use cases. The role involves managing multiple development submittals, conducting engineering reviews and inspections, and providing technical comments in accordance with Weld County Code. The engineer will also assess the impact of development on transportation systems and recommend necessary improvements, while effectively communicating findings to various stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with technical engineering related items for Planning and Oil & Gas land use cases.
  • Manage case submissions of varying difficulty levels with a focus on engineering review and inspection.
  • Review drainage reports and provide technical comments in relation to the Weld County Code.
  • Evaluate traffic studies and recommend improvements based on the impact of development on transportation systems.
  • Review and provide redlines on engineered plans for on-site and off-site improvements related to land use cases.
  • Present information in both written and verbal formats to landowners, engineers, consultants, Boards, and Commissions.
  • Assist with Improvements Agreements for presentation to the Board of County Commissioners.
  • Handle access permitting related to land use cases and Floodplain permitting.

Requirements

  • Licensed engineer with mid-level experience in engineering.
  • Strong understanding of drainage reports and traffic studies.
  • Ability to review and comment on engineered plans.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with land use cases in the context of Oil & Gas development.
  • Familiarity with Weld County Code and local regulations.
