About the position

The Electrical Engineer II at Thermo Fisher Scientific will support the design and manufacturing of laboratory equipment within the Controlled Temperature Technologies (CTT) Business Unit. This role focuses on optimizing electrical systems for product quality, cost reduction, and throughput, while ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. The position is based in Marietta, Ohio, and involves collaboration with a team to deliver reliable refrigerated lab equipment that meets customer needs.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and participate on projects to improve overall product quality, cost, and throughput.
  • Actively participate in the product development cycle from New Product Introduction (NPI) through product discontinuation.
  • Take ownership of projects and drive them to completion using the Engineering Change Request (ECR) Process.
  • Develop and maintain accurate specifications and documentation for electrical systems and subsystem component performance.
  • Develop and implement test plans to validate electrical system performance while applying design for reliability tools and performance sensitivity analysis.
  • Coordinate with electrical component and assembly suppliers as required.
  • Experience solving electrical systems, including both analog and digital circuits, and components to correct existing problems and improve product quality and reliability.
  • Perform all job duties in a safe manner and obey all safety policies and procedures, as well as comply within ISO standards, regulatory or statutory requirements.
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement and support PPI and Lean Manufacturing projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
  • Up to 2 years of related product support experience focused on manufacture and maintenance of medical devices in a regulated environment.
  • Experience with PCBs, bench/in-product testing, and regulatory testing (NRTL, EMC/EMI).
  • Experience with electro-mechanical systems, including products with refrigeration systems.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and SolidWorks is preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • Minimum to high complexity Project Management experience is a plus.
  • Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage numerous projects simultaneously.
