About the position

The Engineer II - Field Engineer for Global Instrumentation Networks is responsible for managing and implementing multiple field projects related to geophysical instruments and networks. This role involves logistics coordination, field operations participation, and technical support for geophysical technologies. The Engineer II will work under the supervision of the Engineering Manager, contribute to project documentation, and ensure adherence to best practices and organizational standards.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and implement multiple field projects of varying complexity related to geophysical instruments and networks.
  • Arrange logistics and participate in field operations at various sites.
  • Identify and solve standard technical issues related to geophysical sensor hardware, firmware, software, and data communications.
  • Assist with the design and testing of new systems under supervision.
  • Evaluate instrument design and data/metadata adequacy for deployed systems.
  • Ensure appropriate documentation of activities and metadata using established tools and protocols.
  • Draft detailed technical reports for review by the Engineering Manager.
  • Assist with the development of technical documentation formats and feedback for projects.
  • Develop and maintain good relationships with community members, suppliers, and landowners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in engineering, geosciences, or related field with three (3) years of experience with geophysical sensors or networks OR a Master's degree with one (1) year of field experience.
  • Familiarity with data quality analysis software is preferred.
  • For Tier 2: Bachelor's degree with five (5) years of experience OR a Master's degree with two (2) years of field experience.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience leading field teams related to geophysical instrumentation deployments.
  • Familiarity with Borehole instrumentation.
