About the position
The Field Service Engineer (FSE) role at Thermo Fisher Scientific involves providing advanced services on laboratory equipment, including installation, repair, and maintenance. FSEs are remote colleagues who travel daily to customer sites, utilizing a company vehicle for service in their designated area. The position requires adherence to safety standards and good manufacturing practices, with some overnight travel expected.
Responsibilities
- Repair, install, and maintain a variety of laboratory equipment products including temperature control, incubators, centrifuges, and cold storage.
- Schedule and complete detailed preventative maintenance and corrective service to ensure peak uptime of customer equipment.
- Submit expenses and manage trunk stock inventory in a timely and accurate manner.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Electronics preferred; Associate's degree or High School Diploma/GED with 3 years of related experience will also be considered.
- EPA Certification required; Accredited trade school certification in HVAC/R or Electronic Technician preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in field service, Depot repair, or servicing medical devices or laboratory equipment preferred.
- 1+ year of customer-facing experience preferred.
- Strong electronic/electrical and mechanical background with experience in refrigeration preferred.
- Experience working with basic test equipment such as DMM, tachometer, and temperature devices preferred.
Nice-to-haves
- Experience in a manufacturing facility or equivalent environment.
- Ability to operate computers, smartphones, and related software efficiently.
