About the position

As an Engineer II at GEICO, you will be responsible for developing and executing technical software development strategies, ensuring the quality and performance of solutions, and leading projects while interacting with clients and sponsors. This role requires proficiency in modern programming languages and familiarity with various databases and cloud services, contributing to a fast-paced, innovative environment.

Responsibilities

• Utilize programming languages like Go, Python, Java, SQL, and NoSQL databases.
• Develop and execute technical software development strategy including self-service, business continuity, backup/restores, incident response, and paging platforms.
• Accountable for the quality, usability, and performance of the solutions.
• Lead projects from the front and interact with clients and sponsors on a regular basis.
• Consistently share best practices and improve processes within and across teams.

Requirements

• Knowledge of at least one modern programming language such as Python or Go (preferred).
• Understanding of Open Source databases like MySQL, PostgreSQL, etc.
• Familiar with No-SQL databases like Cassandra, MongoDB, etc.
• Understanding of service integrations / communication standards (e.g., GRPC / REST).
• Experience with continuous delivery (CI/CD) and Infrastructure as Code.
• Knowledge of developer tooling across the software development life cycle.
• Knowledge of OpenStack/Kubernetes, containers, and best practices in a K8s environment.
• Experience in Observability tools such as Prometheus/Grafana/Open Telemetry/Loki is a plus.
• Experience in Open Source tools like GIT and knowledge in Terraform/Ansible is a plus.
• Good communication skills.
• Ability to excel in a fast-paced, startup-like environment.
