About the position

The Engineer II - Manufacturing position at Microchip Technology, Inc. involves contributing to the engineering efforts required for the manufacturing of High-Reliability products. This role is designed for individuals with a background in mechanical or manufacturing engineering, offering a collaborative environment where the selected candidate will work alongside experienced engineers to drive continuous improvement and support product engineering efforts.

Responsibilities

  • Actively own engineering responsibilities for assigned processes.
  • Ensure World-Class Manufacturing concepts are vigorously pursued; implement and/or support continuous improvement programs.
  • Perform in-depth studies where opportunities exist for improvement to allocated processes and products.
  • Support product engineering for all production products, interfacing with design, process, test, reliability, and manufacturing engineering to solve product issues and production problems.
  • Design, run, and document results of experiments under the direction of senior engineers, including developing and modifying test programs and analyzing test data.
  • Create and maintain test specification/manufacturing documentation.
  • Understand MIL-PRF-19500 & MIL-STD-750 specifications as they relate to assigned products and processes.
  • Implement Microchip Lawrence's Quality Manual and related in-house procedures as they relate to assigned processes and new products.
  • Adhere to Health & Safety standards and policies.
  • Take on other related engineering duties as required and assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's in mechanical/manufacturing engineering discipline.
  • Minimum of 2-4 years' experience.
  • Ability to think holistically and creatively to introduce unique solutions to problems.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Familiarity with statistical methods such as SPC, Gage R&R, DOE, 5 Why's, 6 Sigma, etc.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills with a high proficiency in Excel.
  • Well organized with an ability to multitask and work on a diverse set of problems while simultaneously being on a steep learning curve.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills with the ability to clearly present and discuss manufacturing information to technical and non-technical team members.
