About the position

The Materials & Processes Engineering (MPE) department at Pratt & Whitney is seeking talented engineering candidates to join their Engineering Development Program (EDP). This program is designed for new hires to gain hands-on experience in engine component, materials, and chemical process development, analyses, and testing for both commercial and military engine applications. Participants will engage in multiple rotations over 36 months, allowing them to build technical breadth and leadership abilities while preparing for future roles within the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct engine component, materials, and chemical process development and analyses.
  • Perform mechanical testing, materials analysis, and metallurgical or chemical analysis.
  • Engage in inspection processes and coating property analysis.
  • Document and analyze data/results, prepare reports and presentations, and draw conclusions based on findings.
  • Participate in materials development for aerospace alloys, coatings, and polymers/composites.
  • Utilize electron microscopy and other scattering techniques for materials and engine component analysis.
  • Conduct non-destructive evaluation and mechanics of material and component behavior.
  • Model materials properties and processes, and analyze material data using statistics.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Materials Science Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field, or Bachelor's degree with 2 years of experience.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen due to access requirements for certain systems/tools.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Microsoft Office tools.
  • Experience collaborating with a team to develop innovative ideas.
  • Strong communication skills to convey clear and effective messages to a broad audience.
