About the position
The Protection & Control Engineer at Qualus will work within the Substation Protection and Control department, focusing on developing utility substation engineering design packages. This role involves independent assignments with guidance from senior engineers, providing technical direction to junior staff, and engaging with clients to present technical solutions and gather engineering data.
Responsibilities
- Perform assignments independently with general guidance from the Manager of Engineering and/or Lead Engineer.
- Provide technical direction and on-the-job training to drafters, engineering technicians, and less experienced engineers.
- Present technical solutions confidently to key customers and respond to technical concerns in real time.
- Participate in client meetings and job site visits to collect or deliver design and engineering data.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) with a power systems focus, or an MS Degree in engineering in lieu of the BS Engineering degree.
- 3+ years of experience developing complete utility substation P&C engineering design packages.
- Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) License, with a desire to pursue a Professional Engineer (PE) License.
- Physical design experience in addition to Protection & Control (P&C) experience is a plus.
- Desire for continuing education and licenses.
