About the position

The Engineering, Science and Analysis (ESA) Strategic Capabilities Unit is seeking a skilled engineer to design and realize antennas, RF circuits, and systems. This role involves hands-on work with various antenna types and RF components, utilizing computational electromagnetic analysis software, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver high-impact technologies for customer missions. The position also includes mentoring junior engineers and providing technical solutions for complex RF applications.

Responsibilities

  • Design and realize individual antennas, phased array antennas, RF circuits, and passive RF components.
  • Use computational electromagnetic analysis software to design and predict performance on various types of antennas and apertures.
  • Design frequency-selective surfaces (FSSs) for use with various radiating apertures.
  • Implement design techniques for RCS mitigation where necessary.
  • Collaborate with engineers and technicians to realize RF designs.
  • Guide the testing of RF hardware for performance metrics such as VSWR, insertion loss, gain, and RCS.
  • Evaluate antenna requirements and participate in concept trade-off and development.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations for in-house and customer engagements.
  • Investigate new technologies and applications for antennas and RF systems.
  • Mentor junior engineers and technicians during design, build, and test phases of RF projects.
  • Provide technical solutions for antenna/sensor-based applications like electronic warfare and communications.

Requirements

  • BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field.
  • 2 or more years of related experience, with higher degrees substituting for experience.
  • Full competency in core RF engineering and antenna theory.
  • Solid communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience with design of antennas and passive RF components.
  • Analytical design experience using software like AWR Microwave Office, CST, HFSS, etc.
  • RF antenna testing experience utilizing network analyzers and anechoic chambers.
  • Proficiency in programming and data visualization in MATLAB and Python.
  • Ability to schedule and execute measurements and perform analysis.
