About the position

The Engineer III position at SEPTA is responsible for managing engineering and quality assurance assignments of basic complexity. This role involves providing technical support for various engineering activities, including design review, inspection planning, and project development, ensuring alignment with SEPTA's mission and goals. The Engineer III will work on multidisciplinary projects related to transit and railroad interlocking, safety, and security, contributing to the overall efficiency and reliability of SEPTA's transportation services.

Responsibilities

  • Consult with senior engineers on project definitions and quality assurance principles.
  • Generate technical reports, specifications, and audits in a professional manner.
  • Document major design concepts and agreements with project stakeholders.
  • Assist in project management tasks and maintain logs of contractor activities.
  • Review engineering designs and drawings for accuracy and completeness.
  • Monitor vehicle and material quality activities and recommend improvements.
  • Participate in audits of quality assurance inspection activities.
  • Support senior management in developing transit improvement programs and outage planning.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Environmental) or Construction Management.
  • Three years of relevant work experience in engineering or project management.
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Valid Driver's License.
