About the position
The Civil Structural Engineer III at Qualus will focus on designing and detailing foundations for substation structures, including mat and pier types. The role emphasizes quality and cost-effectiveness while adhering to client requirements and internal quality control practices. The engineer will also be involved in creating substation designs, applying relevant codes and standards, and collaborating with clients and other engineering disciplines.
Responsibilities
- Develop overall conceptual design plans in the initial development phase of new projects.
- Work with renewable energy developers and other clients with support specific to schedules and cost estimates.
- Design foundations using commercially available software such as LPILE.
- Develop steel structure models for rigid bus and equipment supports.
- Perform company's Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) processes.
- Establish and maintain professional relationships with external business partners; present information and respond to questions from clients.
- Direct and/or participate in client meetings/job site visits to collect or deliver design and engineering data.
- Mentor less experienced staff on a wide range of technical and project management skills.
- Coordinate with other engineering disciplines.
Requirements
- Bachelors of Science or Masters in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited institution
- 5+ years of experience performing civil structural engineering calculations.
- Proficient with drafting programs such as AutoCAD and MicroStation a plus.
- Experience in transmission, distribution and generating stations is a plus.
- Must have strong analytical and computer skills.
- Valid driver's license and acceptable driving record are required.
