About the position

As an Electrical Engineer at LEO A DALY, you will play a crucial role in the engineering design process, specifically focusing on electrical design for power, lighting, low voltage, and special systems work. This position involves working as part of a multi-discipline team, contributing to various architectural and engineering projects throughout all phases. You will be expected to deliver technically correct solutions for small projects or tasks within larger, more complex projects, often under the guidance of Senior Engineers. Your work will require a blend of independent judgment and collaboration, ensuring that all designs meet the necessary specifications and quality standards. Your responsibilities will include performing design calculations, preparing reports, and producing comprehensive drawing sets that encompass site plans, lighting plans, power plans, special systems plans, one-line diagrams, schedules, and details. You will also be involved in client meetings, where effective communication with clients, consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders is essential. Conducting site investigations and observations will be part of your role, allowing you to ensure that the designs are implemented correctly in the field. In addition to technical responsibilities, you will participate in Construction Administration by reviewing shop drawings and submittals, responding to Requests for Information (RFIs), and addressing construction issues as they arise. Mentoring junior professionals and designers will also be a key aspect of your position, as you help foster their development within the company. Furthermore, you will assist with marketing and business development activities, which may include building relationships with key clients, proposal writing, fee estimates, and participating in client interviews. Travel for marketing and project-related activities will be required, adding a dynamic element to your role.

Responsibilities

  • Designs and specifies project-appropriate electrical engineering requirements
  • Assists to direct the work of Electrical Designers
  • Performs Revit modeling and detailing
  • Attends client meetings and communicates with clients, consultants, contractors, and others during various stages of project development
  • Conducts site investigations and observations
  • Prepares narratives, reports, calculations, drawing and specification documents in accordance with a high degree of quality, yet with regard to project schedule and budget constraints
  • Performs cross-discipline discussions and coordination
  • Participates in Construction Administration by reviewing shop drawings and submittals, responding to RFIs, solving construction issues, and performing site visits to assess general conformance with the design concept
  • Assists to mentor and encourage the development of junior professionals and designers
  • Assists with marketing and business development activities including building relationships with key clients and strategic partners, proposal writing, fee estimates, and client interviews

Requirements

  • ABET-accredited degree in Masters of Architectural Engineering with an electrical/lighting emphasis or Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering
  • Minimum 4 years' experience in electrical engineering on a wide variety of projects within the A/E industry
  • Registered Professional Electrical Engineer required
  • Demonstrated practical knowledge of codes and related industry standards
  • Production experience preparing deliverable drawing sets in Revit
  • Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency using power system simulation, generator analysis, and building energy code analysis software required
  • Self-motivated team player with strong interpersonal, communication, writing, and presentation skills
  • Ability to deal with competing priorities and manage time appropriately
  • Positive attitude and commitment to being an active participant working as part of a multi-disciplinary team
