About the position

The Engineer III - Infrastructure & Warehouse Management Systems at Cencora plays a crucial role in executing the architectural strategy for infrastructure and operations. This position involves designing, building, testing, implementing, and optimizing various infrastructure components while ensuring compliance with security policies. The engineer will also manage and support the Warehouse Management System (WMS) software, assisting with enhancements and upgrades as needed, and providing first-level support to management and supervisors.

Responsibilities

  • Participates in short- and long-term planning efforts with stakeholders and IT groups.
  • Provides project cost/time estimates.
  • Identifies and communicates how IT infrastructure solutions can support business goals.
  • Supports the prioritization of requirements and matches resources with requirements.
  • Works with analysts and stakeholders to understand business needs.
  • Leads the evaluation of technical requirements for projects.
  • Ensures completeness of technical requirements and functional architecture analysis.
  • Identifies requirements gaps or issues.
  • Determines systems specifications and working parameters for hardware/software compatibility.
  • Ensures proper communication/review of requirements and integration for impacted areas.
  • Ensures designs comply with organization's standards.
  • Evaluates technical requirements for projects to determine impact on infrastructure/applications.
  • Explains proposed solutions to non-SMEs.
  • Assists in business process redesign and documentation for new technology.
  • Leads the architecture, design, development, and testing of technical solutions.
  • Coordinates development activities with other groups.
  • Provides technical consulting on the integration of application systems.
  • Participates in technical design reviews of applicable projects.
  • Develops custom integration solutions including major enhancements and interfaces.
  • Maintains existing capabilities and implements up-to-date security technologies.
  • Leads or provides technical direction for testing efforts.
  • Coordinates and leads the build and deployment of new or modified infrastructure components.
  • Ensures all support documentation knowledge transfer to production support.
  • Verifies functionality of components and services and ensures deployment meets expectations.
  • Establishes requirements and procedures for routine maintenance.
  • Forecasts utilization patterns and identifies modifications or upgrades.
  • Develops and maintains metrics around the system for continuous improvement.
  • Conducts periodic reviews with users and vendors.
  • Defines and ensures continuous monitoring procedures are set according to standards.
  • Creates a plan to evolve the system to reduce costs and improve dynamics.
  • Performs or coordinates Level 3/4 incident assessment and resolution on infrastructure solutions.
  • Coordinates problem management and resolution among functional areas and provides subject matter expertise support.
  • Provides guidance to other team members.
  • Recommends procedures and controls for problem resolution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or technical institute degree/certificate in a relevant field or equivalent work experience.
  • Typically requires eight (8) or more years of relevant IT work experience.
  • Experience leading technical teams preferred.
  • Relevant certifications are preferred.
  • Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of a broad range of hardware and software products.
  • Strong experience with Unix-based systems and command-line interfaces.
  • Experience with Terraform or other infrastructure as code.
  • Familiarity with industrial control systems.
  • Strong experience with warehouse management, SAP, building automation, and serialization management systems.
  • Experience with RDS/MySQL/database management preferred.
  • Experience with SAP and/or Manhattan Associates software (or similar systems).
  • Knowledge of networking concepts such as DNS, TCP/IP, and load balancing preferred.
