About the position

The Engineer III (Senior Field Engineer) at EarthScope Consortium Inc. is responsible for overseeing and managing technical geophysical projects of moderate complexity. This role involves collaboration with multiple stakeholders and technologies, implementing and managing field operations across various locations, including the United States and polar regions. The Engineer III serves as a subject matter expert, providing training and ensuring adherence to high technical standards while fostering relationships with community members and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Act as technical lead on the execution of geophysical projects involving multiple technologies.
  • Set strategy for planning and executing scope for assigned projects, including logistics, site selection, and installation activities.
  • Identify complex technical problems and devise innovative solutions.
  • Troubleshoot and integrate geophysical technology and related infrastructure.
  • Contribute to the design and testing of new complex systems.
  • Generate detailed technical documentation for assigned projects.
  • Prepare project budgets and review expenditures.
  • Provide financial and operational recommendations for proposal development.
  • Strengthen alliances with other departments on collaborative projects.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community members and business partners.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in engineering, geosciences, or related field with seven years of experience with geophysical sensors or networks, or a Master's degree with four years of experience.
  • General understanding of geophysical data processing and familiarity with data quality analysis software.
  • Proficiency with computer programming or scripting language.
  • Experience leading field teams related to geophysical instrumentation deployments.
  • Experience in systems engineering and design.
