The Engineer III (EIII) at EarthScope Consortium Inc. is a pivotal role that involves providing oversight, management, and leadership for technical geophysical projects of moderate complexity. This position requires working with limited direction and involves collaboration with multiple stakeholders and technologies, potentially spanning several years. The EIII will implement and manage field operations at various sites across the United States, polar latitudes, and other international locations. As the technical lead, the incumbent is expected to devise innovative solutions to complex technical problems and ensure that all work aligns with best practices and the EarthScope mission. The EIII is recognized as a subject matter expert and is responsible for proposing and implementing procedures that meet high technical and organizational standards. Additionally, the EIII will provide training for engineers and the user community, ensuring that all operations conform to established guidelines. In this role, the EIII will act as the technical lead on geophysical projects, setting strategies for planning and executing project scopes that may include logistics, site reconnaissance, permitting, installation, maintenance, and data flow activities. The position requires the ability to independently identify complex technical issues and develop creative solutions. The EIII will also contribute to the design and testing of new systems, generate detailed technical documentation, prepare project budgets, and provide financial and operational recommendations. Building and maintaining strong relationships with community members, suppliers, landowners, and business partners is essential for the success of the projects undertaken by EarthScope. The EIII will report to the Engineering Manager and may coordinate responsibilities among other engineering staff. While this position does not have direct supervisory responsibilities, it requires strong interpersonal skills and effective communication to foster a professional culture and ensure timely completion of tasks. The EIII will also be involved in supporting field and engineering activities, particularly in learning from and training other engineers within the organization.
