About the position

The Industrial Engineer 2 position at Daikin focuses on analyzing workforce utilization, facility layout, and operational data to enhance productivity and efficiency within the organization. The role involves applying lean principles to manufacturing and warehousing processes, establishing work measurement programs, and recommending improvements to optimize operations. The engineer will also engage with vendors, conduct data analysis, and coordinate projects to ensure timely and budget-compliant completion.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze workforce utilization, facility layout, and operational data to improve productivity and efficiency.
  • Utilize proven lean principles for warehousing and manufacturing areas.
  • Identify opportunities for cost reduction, increased quality, and workflow improvements.
  • Establish work measurement programs and analyze work samples to develop standards for labor utilization.
  • Utilize AutoCAD software to design racking, layout, workflow, and material handling processes.
  • Recommend methods for improving worker efficiency and reducing waste of materials and utilities.
  • Interact with MHE vendors and suppliers to stay informed on industry trends.
  • Conduct data analysis for metric tracking and generation.
  • Recommend reorganizing workflow, relocating equipment, and purchasing new equipment.
  • Coordinate project work internally and externally to ensure on-time project completion within budget.
  • Collaborate with the Solutions Group on projects and data gathering when assigned.
  • Understand Safety, Quality, Cost, and Delivery Metrics.
  • Apply knowledge of Lean, Kaizen, and 5S principles.
  • Establish continuous improvement goals and execute action plans.
  • Participate in additional projects to support ongoing business needs.

Requirements

  • Experience in industrial engineering or a related field.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD software for designing layouts and workflows.
  • Strong analytical skills for data analysis and metric generation.
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing principles, including Kaizen and 5S.
  • Ability to establish work measurement programs and performance standards.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with material handling equipment (MHE) vendors and suppliers.
  • Familiarity with project management principles.
  • Understanding of safety and quality metrics in manufacturing environments.
