About the position

The Senior Industrial Engineer is responsible for optimizing plant layout, work cell configuration, and assembly methods while maintaining the engineering database. This role involves collaboration with various departments to enhance production efficiency, safety, and quality standards.

Responsibilities

• Draw and modify production area layouts using CAD software.
• Collaborate with design, automation, quality assurance, facilities, and production managers to develop work cell and production line layouts.
• Lead the implementation and troubleshooting of vision cells for new jobs.
• Develop assembly methods in collaboration with engineering and production teams, focusing on safety and efficiency.
• Create and maintain work instructions for the manufacturing floor.
• Lead Kaizen events to address production pain points and track team progress.
• Manage assigned projects from multiple departments, ensuring timely completion and accurate project scope.
• Generate and maintain product routing and BOMs in the computer system.
• Participate in packaging development focusing on labor and production process issues.
• Perform operation analysis to improve labor efficiency and document findings for distribution.
• Develop and lead training classes for production supervisors on new methods.
• Conduct informational meetings with production and quality management regarding new layouts and analyses.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in industrial engineering or a related discipline plus 3-5 years of experience, or an associate's degree plus 7-10 years of experience.
• Strong language skills to read, interpret, and communicate technical documents and reports.
• High degree of computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Windows and MRP software.
• Strong understanding of two-dimensional CAD methods, preferably AutoCAD.
• Familiarity with specialized software for packaging evaluation and time studies.
• Proficient in spreadsheet software with complex formulas and graphing capabilities.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience with AS400 software.
