The Engineer, Instrumentation & Control & Cybersecurity (B) position is a critical role within the Chief Operating Officer's organization, specifically in the Engineering & Tech Programs department. This position is based in Chattanooga, Tennessee, but candidates from anywhere in the Tennessee Valley are encouraged to apply. The primary responsibility of this role is to plan, schedule, coordinate, and execute engineering work related to Instrumentation and Control (I&C) and North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) Cyber Security. This includes the analysis, specification, design, development, installation, testing, maintenance, and repair of real-time process monitoring and control systems, particularly for power generating stations within the Non-Nuclear Generating Fleet. The ideal candidate will engage in various tasks, including the development and implementation of interfaces with existing plant process systems and equipment. The role requires a high level of judgment in evaluating, selecting, adapting, and applying engineering techniques, procedures, and standards, often in the face of conflicting requirements and complex coordination challenges. The engineer must interpret and apply software quality assurance requirements and engineering standards to non-standard situations with minimal procedural guidance. In addition to technical responsibilities, the engineer may serve as a technical project lead for software and hardware systems, coordinating the efforts of engineers, systems analysts, programmer analysts, technicians, and other team members. Responsibilities also include developing technical specifications for system procurement, revising processes and standards, and leading troubleshooting activities for plant events. The engineer will also assist in root cause analysis and failure mode development as needed, ensuring that all tasks align with business needs and operational efficiency.
