About the position

The Engineer Intern Applicant position is designed to provide practical experience in engineering under the supervision of a higher-level engineer. The role involves assisting with contract administration, project inspection, and ensuring compliance with project specifications to maintain high-quality work by contractors. This position is temporary and aimed at individuals pursuing a Louisiana Engineer Intern Certificate, with opportunities for career progression based on experience and qualifications.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Engineer 6 (Project Engineer) with contract administration and processing of change orders.
• Conduct project inspections and documentation reviews to ensure compliance with plans and specifications.
• Resolve construction disputes and interpret project specifications during construction.
• Generate and process partial pay estimates and change orders, ensuring accurate documentation.
• Review erosion control plans and enforce traffic control requirements on construction projects.
• Perform data collection and engineering calculations to identify plan errors and provide solutions.
• Assist in the review of plans and specifications for upcoming construction projects.
• Conduct drainage surveys to assist with proper sizing of drainage structures.
• Participate in interviews and make recommendations for hiring new employees.

Requirements

• Eligibility for a Louisiana Engineer Intern Certificate.
• Completion of college hours or degree from an accredited college or university.
