About the position

The Engineer Intern position at Holcim for Summer 2025 offers a unique opportunity for students to gain hands-on experience in cement production while contributing to sustainability initiatives. This 10-week paid internship will take place at the cement plant in Ada, OK, where interns will work closely with experienced engineers to optimize processes, monitor production, and participate in environmental assessments. Responsibilities

  • Assist in optimizing cement production processes, including adjusting parameters and troubleshooting to enhance efficiency and reduce costs.
  • Monitor and control process variables such as temperature, pressure, and flow rates, using automated systems and manual techniques.
  • Understand and support various mechanical, maintenance, and production operations within the plant.
  • Participate in sustainability and environmental impact assessments, working on projects aimed at reducing the plant's carbon footprint and improving resource efficiency.
  • Collect and analyze data related to cement production, quality control, and environmental performance.
  • Assist in monitoring and maintaining product quality through testing and inspecting raw materials and finished products.
  • Assist in the implementation and monitoring of safety protocols and procedures to ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Utilize a range of skills and knowledge in day-to-day operations, working collaboratively to achieve team and company goals.
  • Present learnings and contributions to the executive leadership team at the end of the internship.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program majoring in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical, Electrical or similar field.
  • Strong academic performance with a solid understanding of engineering principles.
  • Geographic flexibility to work at various sites.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • High energy and a proactive approach to tackling new challenges.
  • A team player who can collaborate across different levels of the organization.
  • Willingness to spend significant time in the field, gaining hands-on experience and firsthand knowledge of our business operations.
