About the position

Tetra Tech is seeking a Junior Level Engineer for a full-time entry-level position based in Chantilly, VA. The role involves assisting with on-site construction Quality Assurance (QA) and Health & Safety oversight for a significant Environmental Remedial Action Project in Jacksonville, FL, from December 2024 through September 2026. The position offers an opportunity to learn various skills related to construction and environmental remediation management under the guidance of a registered Professional Engineer, with work hours ranging from 8 to 10 hours per day, five days a week, and occasional weekend work as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with on-site construction Quality Assurance (QA) and Health & Safety oversight support for the Environmental Remedial Action Project.
  • Prepare daily reports of remedial action activities including in-situ soil mixing, land surface capping, stormwater systems, dredging, groundwater treatment system installation, and sheet-pile wall construction.
  • Work under the supervision of a registered Professional Engineer to gain experience towards obtaining a P.E. registration.
  • Manage a workload of up to 50 hours per week and work weekends as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in civil or environmental engineering, or another relevant field.
  • 0 to 5 years' experience in environmental consulting or construction oversight.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Microsoft Project, Excel, and Microsoft Teams.
  • Ability to drive a motor vehicle and pass a motor vehicle records check.
  • Capacity, willingness, and ability to manage a 50-hour/week workload.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in remedial design, feasibility studies, hazardous waste, site investigations, site remediation, field sampling, air quality, ecological restoration, or water resources.
  • Previous experience working on EPA projects.
  • Skills in AutoCad, GIS data analysis, geo-statistics, coding (VBA, Python, etc.), and data management.
  • Self-driven with an eagerness to learn all aspects of field engineering.
  • Excellent communication, client interaction, and organizational skills.
