About the position

The Engineer, Maintenance position at NBC Connecticut involves supporting local stations by maintaining electronic and digital equipment essential for news production and on-air broadcast and streaming requirements. The role requires troubleshooting complex systems and ensuring the smooth operation of various broadcast technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot complex ENG systems, SDI video routers, microwave systems, ENG Vehicles, and Cellular Bonded News Gathering systems.
  • Maintain and support broadcast and production systems for news production.
  • Respond promptly to maintenance needs and issues.
  • Read schematic diagrams and troubleshoot analog and digital equipment to the component level.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years' experience in broadcast maintenance engineering.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience with digital microwave transmission systems, both fixed and portable, as well as digital encoder systems.
  • Working knowledge of ENG and Satellite transmission maintenance and repair.
  • Knowledge and experience in studio switching systems, automation control, graphics systems, and audio systems in news, production, and on-air environments.
  • Working knowledge of analog and digital IFB and PL communication systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Familiarity with ENG and streaming and encoding technologies.
  • Working knowledge of laptop editing.
  • Knowledge of FCC rules and regulations.
  • Deep knowledge of test equipment operation for diagnosis of all digital and analog signals.
