About the position

The Maintenance Engineer is responsible for assisting with the operation, maintenance, service, and repair of equipment as assigned. This role includes participating in the preventative maintenance program, handling guest requests, and performing various trade jobs such as carpentry, painting, and plumbing. The position may also require driving a shuttle van when needed, specific to the property.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the operation, maintenance, and repair of equipment.
  • Change out light bulbs; perform preventative maintenance for guest rooms including vinyl repair, touch-up paint, minor furniture repair, tub caulking, and tile repairs.
  • Perform preventative maintenance for ice machines, refrigerators, kitchen equipment, laundry equipment, HVAC, guest rooms, meeting rooms, swimming pool, and hot tub.
  • Perform plumbing repairs, laundry equipment repairs, and preventative maintenance on all exhaust fans; monitor energy conservation; repair vacuum cleaners and any other small equipment upon request.
  • Immediately follow up on any alarms to determine the exact location and cause; determine emergency status and report to the Front Desk with findings.
  • Perform other tasks/jobs as assigned by the supervisor or manager.

Requirements

  • Experience in a hotel or a related field preferred.
  • High School diploma or equivalent required.
  • Licensed in a trade preferred (plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, etc.).
  • Must have a valid driver's license for the applicable state.
  • Must have an acceptable MVR (Motor Vehicle Driving Record) property specific.
  • Certificate from a one-year college or technical school; or three to six months of related experience or training; or a combination equivalent of education and experience.
  • Basic knowledge and experience in carpentry, plumbing, mechanical repair, painting, and HVAC systems.

  • Ability to demonstrate accuracy and thoroughness; monitors own work to ensure quality and applies feedback received to improve performance.
  • Ability to demonstrate flexibility in response to change and adapt to new methods and procedures.
  • Knowledge of safety principles; federal and state OSHA regulations.
