About the position

The Engineer Manager at Idaho Asphalt Supply, Inc. is responsible for leading and executing projects aimed at improving processes and operational excellence in asphalt production and application. This strategic role requires a visionary leader with extensive experience in chemical engineering, overseeing high-level projects and fostering innovation across multiple facilities. The position emphasizes a hands-on approach to problem-solving and process enhancement, reporting directly to the Vice President.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage projects related to the production and application of asphalt materials.
  • Coordinate & develop project timelines, classified project estimates, budgets, and resources to ensure successful project completion.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance the efficiency and quality of asphalt production and application.
  • Oversee the design of new processes and facilities as needed (green and brownfield).
  • Provide technical leadership and support to team members, ensuring compliance with industry standards and best practices.
  • Oversee the development and maintenance of technical documentation, engineering information, specifications, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
  • Lead root cause analysis efforts for production challenges and implement corrective actions.
  • Work closely with other departments to align engineering initiatives with company objectives.
  • Collaborate with contractors, suppliers, and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Stay abreast of industry trends, technologies, and advancements in asphalt materials and production techniques.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering or Chemical Engineering Degree.
  • An advanced degree or MBA is strongly preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive responsibility in engineering or manufacturing, preferably in a chemical manufacturing/processing environment.
  • Leadership experience, building superior teams, setting expectations, and holding people accountable.
  • Large asphalt or chemical plant experience.
  • Familiarity with industry standards such as OSHA, NFPA, ANSI, & APA is desirable.
  • Strong computer skills and intermediate skill level in data analysis.

Nice-to-haves

  • PE license.
  • Process controls experience.
  • Mechanical and electrical aptitude.
  • Six Sigma and/or Lean Manufacturing certification.
  • Intermediate skill (or better) with AutoCad and Excel.
