About the position

The Engineer Manager at Lynker Corporation will oversee the engineering operations for the National Data Buoy Center (NDBC), focusing on the design, development, testing, and deployment of data-collecting buoys and coastal stations. This role requires a blend of project management, operational engineering, and team leadership to ensure the performance and reliability of the NDBC ocean observing network.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and manage all aspects of NDBC Engineering including Systems, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic, and Embedded Software.
  • Provide operational engineering, project management, and technology refresh support for the NDBC ocean observing network.
  • Manage a team of Electrical, Mechanical, and Embedded Software Engineers and Drafters.
  • Monitor and analyze system performance of the NDBC ocean observing network.
  • Develop and maintain processes to sustain NDBC stations and systems at required performance levels.
  • Track equipment failures and conduct performance analyses on stations and sensors.
  • Collect field data on failed items and determine root causes of failures.
  • Implement procedures and tests to evaluate corrective actions and track equipment performance.
  • Develop and test improvements and technology refresh for NDBC buoys and station systems.
  • Conduct feasibility and cost-benefit studies for equipment improvement and technology refresh.
  • Fabricate bench test models and prototypes of new systems and sensors.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports and recommendations for new equipment implementation.
  • Conduct design reviews and provide specialized engineering services as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Systems, Mechanical, Electrical, Electronic, or Embedded Software Engineering (Master's Degree Preferred).
  • 8+ years of relevant experience.
